AI FILM / DIRECTION & VISUAL DEVELOPMENT

A local television bulletin reports an increasingly impossible world with complete professional seriousness. One recurring face becomes the anchor, expert, reporter, weather presenter and athlete.

FULL FILM / 02:51 / ENGLISH

Use the familiar structure of local news to make the impossible feel routine. The presenters stay committed to their jobs while the events become stranger.

Concept, script, character and world development, AI film direction and editing.

PROCESS

01 / WRITE THE BULLETIN

Six acts connect the opening, a lotus birth, breaking news, weather, sports and a studio sign-off. Handoffs and interruptions provide the rhythm.

02 / DESIGN THE ROLES

Character sheets vary costume, silhouette and profession around a recurring identity. Studio, interview and street references establish distinct spaces for the broadcast.

03 / DIRECT THE CONTRAST

Shot instructions distinguish locked studio cameras, witness camcorder footage, live reporting and aerial coverage. Performance and editing hold these different images inside one programme.

MAKING THE WORK

OPENING CLOCK / ANIMATION BEFORE AI

I created a procedural clock animation in Python using PIL and NumPy, with programmed hand positions and tick timing.

The rendered clip was supplied as a video reference for AI generation. The prompt specifies its timing and dial layout as the reference; the two clips below show the source and generated interpretation.

PERFORMANCE / KEEP A STRAIGHT FACE

The anchor speaks with formal composure, the expert offers calm authority, and the reporter tries to finish a live link during a disaster. The humour comes from their commitment to these roles.

The script distinguishes the anchor’s formal delivery, the expert interview and the reporter’s interrupted live link.

VISUAL DEVELOPMENT / ONE IDENTITY, DIFFERENT SILHOUETTES

The blue satin anchor suit, tartan expert jacket, reporter trench coat and red strongman singlet distinguish the cast. Reference sheets separate face, costume and proportions before scene generation.

Eight character sheets show the recurring face across broadcast roles, alongside the non-human opponent.

CAMERA / THE SOURCE OF THE IMAGE MATTERS

Shot prompts specify different camera setups for the studio, witness footage, live street reporting and aerial coverage.

The environment plates below are derived from the finished film, with performers removed where present. They isolate the camera position, light and background across studio, witness, street and aerial images.

STRUCTURE / RETURN TO THE STUDIO

The opening studio setup includes a tall spotlight stand. The final sign-off returns to the studio, where the lamp falls onto the desk.

Both the opening reference and the outro prompt include the lamp. The sign-off continues after the interruption.

CASTING THE BULLETIN

Costume, silhouette and profession separate the recurring face into distinct broadcast roles.

A BROADCAST WORLD

Eight environment views extracted from the finished film. Performers have been removed where present to isolate the sets, lighting and locations.
