A NORMAL TUESDAY

One stolen hoverboard. One very ordinary school morning.

2026
AI SHORT FILM / DIRECTION & VISUAL DEVELOPMENT

A teenager takes an inventor’s hoverboard to impress a girl. His school morning collides with an investor’s plan to take ownership of the invention, and a live microphone turns a private confession into a public one.

Build a dry crime comedy from a supplied set of characters, locations and props. The characters take their problems seriously; the humor comes from the staging, timing and consequences.

Story development, shot planning, character and environment references, Blender previz, AI film direction, editing, color adjustments and audio leveling. Developed from a supplied starter asset kit.

PROCESS

01 / BUILD THE STORY

I considered science fiction, horror and crime comedy, then chose a story that could work through short shots, physical gags and cuts on sound. A story bible fixed wardrobe, world rules and the ensemble.

02 / STAGE BEFORE GENERATING

I built Blender blockouts with primitive sets, proxy actors and camera markers. Rendered previz established camera movement, framing and action timing before the AI pass.

03 / ITERATE & ASSEMBLE

Draft generations tested difficult shots. Selected takes were regenerated at 1080, then assembled in DaVinci Resolve with selective color corrections and audio leveling.

MAKING THE WORK

DIRECT THE CUT / SOUND AS STRUCTURE

The board hum, door slams and shoe clicks establish the rhythm. Faster chase passages alternate with held, deadpan conversations.

The shot plan specifies transitions in advance, including the truck-to-lab wipe and the microphone → loudspeaker → cafeteria sequence.

THE HARD SHOT / A SLIDE UNDER A TRUCK

The camera had to show both the trailer’s clearance and the rider crossing underneath it. I iterated the road layout, truck lane, camera distance and direction of the slide.

The previz and four generation takes below document the changes. The selected version places the truck in the near lane and makes the action readable from the side.

STORY THROUGH ADJACENT SHOTS

A green microphone light, a ceiling loudspeaker and a silent cafeteria communicate that the confession is being broadcast.

The edit lets the audience connect the images. The school director’s final line turns the live microphone into the closing joke.

THE ENSEMBLE

Production reference sheets keep faces, outfits and proportions consistent across the film. The project began with a supplied asset kit; these references include the main characters and supporting roles.

A SCHOOL MORNING

Supplied location assets and additional set references establish the street chase, the inventor’s lab and the school interiors. Each space serves a different pace: movement outside, deadpan confrontations inside.

FOUR TAKES / ONE ACTION

The truck slide was refined across four generations. The comparison records changes in the road, camera position and the readability of the action.
